Dana Martin was 31, shot and killed in Montgomery, Alabama.

Every June is that time of year when we come together for a celebration 🎉 of equality, inclusion and authenticity. Living in ☝🏾’s truth is more then personified in parades and participants twirling 🌀 like a Realhousewives of Atlanta 🍑.

#GoneWithTheWindFabulous

Side Note: She’s returning this upcoming season of Bravo TV’s #RHOA🍑

June 1st, 2019 began the #Stonewall50 #Pride50 movement to commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall🏳️‍🌈 event that took place. Though Pride and Stonewall itself has been whitewashed🌬👱🏼‍♂️👱🏼‍♂️👱🏼‍♂️👱🏼‍♂️ of its colored ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 history, we all have been able to see the 💡 and notice the truth.

The night of the demonstration in 1969, took place at The Stonewall Inn. Marsha P. Johnson 👩🏾‍🦱🌺 and Sylvia Rivera 👩🏽💋, ✌🏾 transgender women of color spearheaded the night of resistance against the brutality by 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏼‍♂️👮🏻‍♂️👮🏼‍♂️. TRUTH BE TOLD if you watch Miss Major 👩🏾‍🦳 Griffin’s documentary MAJOR, she goes further it to details about the night and says something very true about the whitewashing of their history including the Christopher Park across the street.

“They have statues to commemorate Stonewall.. two lesbians and two (white) gay guys. And it looks like the two gay guys are tryna molest each other. The lesbians are talking about moving in and getting a cat. No transgender woman… and there should be one!” - Miss Major Griffin

✊🏿Black and ✊🏾brown trans women have created safe spaces for us to conjugate, but it’s sad to know these women suffer monthly by murders and ☝🏾 knows when it will 🛑.

Jazzaline Ware was found dead in her apartment in Memphis, Tennessee.

At a recent Stonewall 50 ceremony a black trans women named Michelle tried to speak out on the behalf of ✊🏿 and ✊🏾 trans women as there hasn’t been much acknowledgement to their efforts in Stonewall. She was met with the Privileged 👨🏻👱🏼‍♂️👨🏻‍🦲👨🏼‍🦰 People of Pride in a “All Lives Matter” 👩🏻‍🦰👱🏼‍♀️👩🏻‍🦱 and selfish thinking. However later that evening hip-hop artist Iggy👱🏼‍♀️Azalea read the lady’s speech sharing statistics about trans women of color.

Ashanti Carmon was 27, shot and killed in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

If Pride🏳️‍🌈 couldn’t get enough exposure Indiana’s own and current democratic presidential 🇺🇸 nominee Mayor 🧑🏻 Pete Buttigeig has been in full swing collecting coins 💰💰 and creating a narrative of potentially having the first openly gay 👨‍❤️‍👨 president. He recently had a police👮🏻‍♂️ involved shooting in his city in which a black man was shot by an officer, who had his body 🎥 📴!!

As the ☀️ rises this is becoming a new day of the week... another black male is a casualty. ⚰️

During his visit back home he faced a lot of backlash for his history of disconnect with the city of South Bend 👨🏾‍🦱🧔🏾👩🏾‍🦱👩🏽 and suspicion of discrimination when firing the first top black 👮🏾‍♂️ officer. His time spent in town 🏤 halls and public speaking 🎤 forums were 💪🏾tough and well need, but tension and pressure were evident. 😤🤯🤬

To keep the presidential 🇺🇸 talk going why not take a quick glance on 45... agent 🍊 who tweeted a Happy Pride 🏳️‍🌈 yet did not want to fly the pride 🏳️‍🌈 flag at the US Embassy 🕋 for Pride Month. Let’s keep this one short: ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS.

Cardi B. hit the stage as well with Offset for a Clout/Press ☁️🗞 mashup showcasing themselves as the new dance machines 🤖. I will say Cardi’s choreographer knows her stuff!

And Offset got the game from Whitney Houston early-on, so let not act like it’s new..

The Grammy Award Winning Vagina released her much anticipated video for her newest single Press🗞🗞.

And the 👩🏾‍🎤👨🏾‍🎤KIDZ are in awe as category is.., appropriate or alienate. The ballroom scene has taken the world by storm once again with its recent success of Pose on FX Networks and signature dance move Vogue💥.

Now as we’ve been saying past weeks it’s called a “DIP”, but originators to the dance do acknowledge the word “death💀 drop”, but let’s be real what white 👱🏼‍♂️👨🏻👨🏼‍🦰 gay men you know was back in the dance breakin’ and b-boppin’n to the beats of hip-hop?!

NOT A NAN-NUTHHHA!

Though it’s still a continued conversation as Todrick 👨🏾‍🦲 Hall released his recent single “Hair, 💅🏾, Hips, 👠 ” which features a few poignant words taken from ballroom and one not so favorable calling for a DIP💥 as a “SHABLAM FOR ME”.

In the spirit of all things shade🌴 and true 💯 the lands of social📲media had a field day 🗣calling out RuPaul and himself once again for their lack of acknowledging the ballroom community yet stealing from their archives📽🎞🗄🗃.

☝🏾 CHOP 🔪🔪

YASSSS QUEEN‼️

Queen 👑 & Slim 👨🏿‍🦱 is a story of black ✊🏿❣️ love and a stance against brutalities of life. It’s the birthed collaboration between Emmy Winning writer/director Lena Waithe and the eye behind Beyoncé’s creative visuals, Melina Musukata. The film stars Get Out’s David Kaluuya and introducing Jodie Turner-Smith. From the trailer alone I have my 🦃 Day to go boxes 📦 and foil ready to wrap up some 🍽🍽🍽 and put away until I return from the theaters.

Freedom

Where Are You?!

Cause I Need Freedom Too!

The Juneteenth ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Celebration takes place every June 1️⃣9️⃣th. Its significance dates back to 1️⃣8️⃣6️⃣5️⃣, when emancipation of enslaved ⛓ blacks 👩🏾‍🦱🧔🏾👴🏾👵🏽 throughout the confederate states of America🇺🇸. The word itself is a portmanteaus combining “June” and “Nineteenth” to create #Juneteenth.

Y’all know we are thee creatives in the cultural influences on the outside world.

But I must ask…

Frankie Beverly featuring Maze “Before I Let Go” or Beyonce’s new version of “Before I Let Go”!?

Brooklyn Lindsey was found dead in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 32 years old.

As the 🌎 turns...up to some Old Town Road!

Lil’ Nas 👨🏿‍🦱 X, the newest craze in this era of social media music (ie: quick rap) has taken over airwaves 📻 and billboard 📈 charts with his hit single “Old 👨🏾‍🌾 Town🐎 Road”. A catchy hook, cowboy references and a honky tonk legend in Billy🎸Cyrus; and you’ll have yourself enough momentum to grasped the attention of music lovers young 👶🏾 to 🧓🏾 old. The recent success has allowed him to release his awaited debut 7EP which features a track entitled “C7osure (Like You)”.

The song lyrics share a narrative of a breakthrough for self and not the sought out pressures of society to be successful not having happiness:

“Ain’t no more actin', man that forecast say I should just let me grow

No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go

Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take a hold

This is what I gotta do, can't be regretting when I'm old.”

He released an accompanying video in which the visual is used to share a coming out message with the music industry and fans on World Pride Day. 🌎🏳️‍🌈

Surely enough in Shaderoom fashion the artist was met with 👏🏾appraisal🙌🏾 to 👋🏾anguish👎🏾 all stemming from our own BLACK ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 COMMUNITY.

Some days I don’t understand just how... how, how, how, how, how... #NGMFU 🤦🏾‍♂️

Zoe Spears was 23 when she was killed in Fairmount Heights, Maryland.

I’ll say I was not expecting anymore or less then what was received this Pride🌈Month after the 👉🏿blackface👈🏿 we survived during ✊🏽Black ✊🏾History ✊🏿Month. I can only 👀 forward to the continue celebrations 🎊 of my ✊🏿black and ✊🏾brown 🌈queer, 🧜🏽‍♀️trans and indigenous folx, as we maneuver in a 🌎 not so worldly for us, so we ✋🏾mold it🤚🏾 and make it ours.

Please make sure to support upcoming BLACK ✊🏾🏳️‍🌈 PRIDES in your surrounding cities and states. These events were created specifically for us “kinfolks” since “White🏳️Pride” doesn’t acknowledge us how we should be seen! #ForUsByUs #FUBU ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿🏳️‍🌈

I end this entry with a Top Five, Top Cinco, Top 5️⃣ of my Pride🌈 Playlist.

I can’t give you the full Top 🔟, so I’ll leave some honorable to dishonorable mentions of Pride🌈Month.

Honorable Mentions:

1. #SayHerName is more than a hashtag, but an awakening in the STOP of murders, malice and more against black and brown trans brothers and sisters! Did you catch throughout the entry #SayHerName?!

2. George M. Johnson, writer and now author, released the cover to his memoir-manifesto, All 🧑🏾Boys Aren’t Blue 🔵

georgemjohnson_750x422.jpg

3. Janet Mock, Director🎬 and writer✍🏾 of Pose on FX, scored a groundbreaking Netflix deal to showcase content unlike before. I’ll say I’m ready for a series based on her novels, Redefining Realness and Surpassing Serenity.

4. Pose is back on FX make sure to tune in as this season as been giving the people what they want and haven’t expected.

Category is... Watch Pose every Tuesday!

5. D. Wade celebrating his son, Zion once again with family for Pride. ✊🏾🌈

6. Cory👨🏽‍🦲 Booker, New Jersey Senator and Presidential nominee had time to inform the people that Kamala basically...

Jvw6OED.png

6. Grammy nominated singer/songwriter and actress Halle Bailey of duo 🎼👩🏾‍🦱👩🏾 Chloe X Halle has been casted as Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid 🧜🏽‍♀️ live action and let me just say WHITE TWITTER IS ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY 😂

ION know about y’all, but I’m ready for some melanin and S’ZNS (seasonings) in the sea!

7. HBO’s Euphoria, starring singer-actress Zendaya, created by Sam Levinson and produced by Drake and Tmira Yardeni. An adaptation of an Israeli show of same name. Zendaya plays the lead character, Rue, a high school drug addict seeking to be rehabilitated from the use of drugs and resetablish her life in society since her mishaps. We dive deep into the many tales of high schooler at their prime of experience in sexuality, gender identities, sisterhood, parties, drugs and more. If you have seen this show you’re missing out as the storylines are so relatable and understanding in ways beyond belief. Also Labrinth sets the moods with his crooner sounds vocalizing over hard hitting beats singing songs of conviction.

Dishonorable Mentions:

1. Nobody:

Companies & Corporation: 🗣 YASSS HONEY SLAY TEA FOR JUNE WE’RE GAY!

Touché the many companies and corporations that have invade our spaces with Pride season collections to not contribute any where else throughout the year unless it’s to benefit the company not the community or culture.

2. Andy👱🏼‍♂️Cohen, executive producer at Bravo TV had recently interviewed Janet Mock on his show Watch What Happens Live to reveal hrs hasn’t seen Pose.

😲 Shocked 😳 not really as he falls under he same privilege cis-White (straight) men have, so a storyline of coloured queer folx isn’t apart of his agenda. Nonetheless it was the fact he hasn’t seen the show, but had the audacity to ask Janet Mock, if he could just jump in at the second season and still understand...

Now aren’t you the same petty queen who uses a shady boot and professes for the black girls to read back and forth?!

3. Still awaiting on that one brave soul in male Hip-Hop to give a shout to the black queer male and trans community yet we have to deal with the Shaderoom and Lil’ Boosie.

4. BET another year of no inclusion during Pride 🏳️‍🌈 Month, no showcasing of LGBTQ talent never plus where was the cast of Pose for the BET 🏆 Awards?! Let’s not forget though how they did blogger👩🏽‍💻 and host🎤, B. Scott after they were hired and then fired after unwanted wardrobe changes from feminine to a more masculine look.

5. Boston’s Straight 🏳️ Pride Parade... well 🤷🏾‍♂️ WTF is the KKK or the Trumplicans?! I’ll wait... thought we’ve seen this far too much and I won’t waste any typing on it! 😂
